Ginja Rossio is produced in Óbidos by a small family business, following an old family tradition linked to the marketing of sour cherry to liqueur makers in different parts of the country. Located in the village of Sobral da Lagoa, the cradle of the production of sour cherries, together with the passion of its founder for the transformation of the raw material into other more sophisticated and refined flavors in the mouth, led to a natural evolution in the production of sweets and jams.
Ginja Rossio is a liqueur made from the fermentation of ginjas, a fruit similar to cherries, soaked in brandy and then mixed with sugar and cinnamon in stick. It is a liqueur widely consumed in Portugal. It is traditional to say "with" or "without" when ordering the ginjinha, ie if you want the drink with or without fruit in the glass.
